Lab Testing

40+ Quality Checks Per Batch

Every batch of Veer Bharat oil is tested in our in-house laboratory before release. Here's what we check for.

FSSAI Licence

Our manufacturing facility is licensed and inspected by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Moisture & Volatile Matter

We test for moisture content at multiple stages — high moisture degrades oil quality and accelerates rancidity.

Free Fatty Acid (FFA)

FFA levels indicate oil freshness. Our standards are tighter than FSSAI minimums to ensure peak quality at the time of packing.

Peroxide Value

A key indicator of oxidation. Low peroxide value = fresh oil. Every batch is tested before release.

Colour & Appearance

Visual inspection against Lovibond colour standards. Mustard oil should be golden with characteristic clarity.

Argemone Oil Test

We specifically test for argemone oil contamination — a common adulterant that can cause serious health issues. Every batch is negative.

How We Detect Adulteration

The edible oil industry has a contamination problem. Our lab runs specific tests for the most common adulterants found in Indian cooking oils.

Argemone Oil

Standard qualitative test — all batches must be negative.

Can cause epidemic dropsy. Common adulterant in mustard oil.

Palm Oil / Cheap Blends

Fatty acid profiling reveals the exact oil composition.

Misrepresentation. You should get what you pay for.

Mineral Oil / Paraffin

UV fluorescence test and saponification value check.

Petroleum-based. Not fit for human consumption.

Recycled / Used Oil

Peroxide value, TPC (Total Polar Compounds), and colour comparison.

Contains harmful compounds formed during repeated heating.

Consumer Guide

Test Your Oil at Home

Teaching you how to spot a cheat is the strongest signal that we aren't one.

The Freeze Test

Method

Place a small amount of oil in a glass bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours.

What to look for

Pure mustard oil will partially solidify or become cloudy. If it stays completely clear, it may be diluted.

The Heat Test

Method

Heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan. Pure oil will smoke at its characteristic temperature.

What to look for

If it smokes too early or smells chemical, it may be adulterated with cheaper oils.

The Drop Test

Method

Drop a small amount of oil on a piece of paper. Let it dry for 15 minutes.

What to look for

Pure oil leaves a minimal, even stain. Adulterated oils may leave a greasy, uneven ring.
